Thanks for the greetings folks. Here's a new interview with Ulrich:

"however, the new record I started working on this summer will be mainly instrumental."

Yay! I really do think some tracks on Goodbye would work better without vocals, particularly "Shine" and "Goodbye" itself.

welcome to the forum Alex. When I spoke to Ulrich the other week he confirmed that music he's working on (for the new album) will be more 'electronic' sounding.

Personally I love Judith's vocals, but Ulrich can't keep doing the same style all the time. Can't wait for the new album

For me, the vocals sometimes work on Ulrich's work and sometimes not. Be a shame to see them go completely.

Ulrich has been sampled, of all people, by Axl Rose, on track 9 of the new Guns'n'Roses record. In the intro there's a snippet of Wherever You Are, followed by a bit of A Strangely Isolated Place.

No kidding!

Maybe Mr Rose read this from the Kraftwerk thread I put up here during the week on sampling..

Hopefully yes, but I doubt mr. Rose will earn back the expences he used on this album overnight - if ever!

Some news on Ulrich's myspace page

03/01/09

hello, hope you had a good start into the new year - here's another update...

1) ALBUM 4
most of the material for the next record is written, been working on sounds throughout the last months - arranging and recording now...

2) LONGVIEW
is the band in which i'm playing keys - over the last couple of months we've been very busy working on a new record - hopefully this will be out soon.
someone's uploaded a live recording of my favourite song on the album - recorded at a recent gig in bristol:
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=phq_22swxVI

3) PRODUCTION/MIXING ETC
*i've mixed exit calm's current single "we're on our own" which is out now on ac30 http://clubac30.com
*mark peters (the engineers) and myself mixed and produced daniel land's single "within the boundaries/benjamin's room" - out now on sonic cathedral http://soniccathedral.co.uk/

4) COLLABORATIONS
*playing synths on three songs of a shoreline dream's upcoming album http://www.ashorelinedream.com
*info on the recent split 7" with pia fraus can be found here: http://www.seksound.com

5) STILL AVAILABLE
are the expanded and remastered reissues of "far away trains passing by" and "a strangely isolated place" as well as the european version of "goodbye" (remastered and featuring "look at the sky" and "love forever" as bonus tracks).
the "stars ep" is available both as a physical as well as a digital release in the us and as download only in europe.

6) COMPILATIONS
*my cover version of chapterhouse's "love forever" (which amazingly features andrew sherriff on vocals and stephen patman on guitar!) will see a uk release via the third volume of club ac30's "never loose that feeling" compilation series soon. http://clubac30.com
*"look at the sky" is also available on self storage recordings' highly recommended first compilation - other participating artists include elika, auburn lull, soundpool, skyward etc. http://www.northernstarrecords.co.uk/productDetails.cfm?ProductID=428

I was very tempted by Bloc... the line up is stunning. Sadly, £140 is a little steep for me at the moment Sad

I have heard Ulrich's not been too well of late so I do hope this forthcoming
set of gigs isn't too gruelling for him.
